What Is Mobile Deposit? Find All Details Here!

Many banks offer the choice of Mobile Deposit, which is a service that allows users to deposit checks from the comfort of their home, using the mobile app of the bank. To use this service, you have to be a customer of the bank, and must have your online banking details and a phone number that’s registered with the bank. So, what is a mobile deposit? How to use the service? In this post, we are sharing more of the relevant details.

The basics

As mentioned, you can use mobile deposit to deposit money in your checking account. The first step to use the service is to get the app of your bank from Google Play or Apple store, depending on the device you are using. Once you are done downloading the app, log into the app using your online banking credentials and click on the option of deposit. You will have to follow a series of steps as guided, and the enrolment process will be done.

What details are required?

Besides having your Online Banking User ID and Password¸ you should be using an IOS or Android device. The app of the bank must be download as discussed.

Is Mobile Deposit safe?

Yes, absolutely. Just like you are used to using online banking, Mobile Deposit works in a similar way and allows you to deposit checks using your phone or iPad. The images of the check are saved on the app of the bank, so it is entirely secure. You can deposit various kinds of checks, including personal checks, business checks, treasury checks, and cashier checks. Only checks that are payable to you will be accepted for Mobile Deposit. Undated and post-dated checks are also not acceptable.

Other things to know

Once you have deposited your physical check through Mobile Deposit, you can keep the check safe for the next 30 days, and during this period, you will have to check if funds have been transferred to your account. If you have deposited a check using Mobile Deposit, do not redeposit the check physically or try to encash it. You can destroy the check after 30 days, provided you have the money deposited in your account.

Final word

Check online to find more on Mobile Deposit services from your bank. You can check your bank’s website or contact them directly for more assistance. This is the best way to deposit checks on the go!
